Learning a modern foreign language helps children broaden their horizons and connect with the wider world. At Millfield, French teaching fosters the Courage to speak in another language, the Ambition to build fluency, the Respect for other cultures, the Excellence in pronunciation and grammar, and the Spirit to enjoy exploring new ways of communication.

Through engaging lessons, children learn vocabulary, grammar, and conversational skills. They practise speaking, listening, reading and writing, building the confidence to use French in practical situations.

Our curriculum also introduces French culture, traditions, and geography, developing children’s global awareness and appreciation of diversity.
