At Millfield Primary School, we believe that Art nurtures creativity, self-expression and imagination. Through Art, children develop the Courage to try new techniques, the Ambition to refine their skills, the Respect to value their own and others’ work, the Excellence to achieve high standards, and the Spirit to enjoy and celebrate artistic expression.

Our curriculum encourages children to explore a wide range of artistic styles and media. Pupils learn about great artists, craft makers and designers, using their knowledge to inspire and inform their own creations. Sketchbooks are used to experiment, develop ideas, and reflect on progress.

Through a carefully sequenced curriculum, we ensure children build skills progressively in drawing, painting, sculpture, and other techniques. This allows them to express themselves with increasing confidence and precision.
